Day 10 - Back to the Pediatrician

Since Allie's bilirubin levels were higher than normal, we've been keeping a close eye on her "yellowness." When I woke up this morning, Brad asked me if I thought her chest looked a little more yellow. Not having a color standard to measure by...I thought - might as well take her in rather than worry about it.

So - off to the pediatrician we went.

Turns out that she IS in fact yellow, but that is a combination of Breastfeeding jaundice as well as her asian heritage! The Breastfeeding jaundice isn't anything to be worried about - even though we could cure it by switching back over to formula for a day or so. Since she's finally back on 100% breast milk (I did supplement until my milk came in after starving Allie when she was born!) I don't want to switch her back. Since there's no worry or concern with the Breastfeeding jaundice, we're just going to keep doing what we're doing.

She has gained some weight! She's up to 8lbs and 4 oz! You can start to see it in her cheeks a little now!!

They may check her Bilirubin levels again next Thursday at her 2 week check up just to be sure...but for now - little Kaiya is doing awesome!
