Day 40 - Mom...I'm cold!

Kaiya's schedule has been working out BEAUTIFULLY the past few days! With her being sick, I've been very reluctant to try to keep her to a strict eat, wake, sleep every 3 hour schedule. The stomach virus dehydrated her which caused her to eat more frequently than normal. I did focus on trying to make sure she got full feedings with each feeding. AND THEN - with my mom here, there was NO WAY I was going to keep her to an eat, wake, sleep schedule. My mom would hold her for hours on end and let her sleep whenever she could. Kaiya's stomach was also screwed up which did make her sleep time a little more difficult.

But NOW...we're on Day 2 of the perfect baby and a great schedule. She has eaten well, she has stayed awake and she has gone to sleep on her own. She goes down in her crib awake and falls asleep on her own and sleeps pretty much right up until time for her to eat again. And the best part of this whole schedule...she sleeps in between feedings at night!! She's gone for up to four hours in between feedings at night...and I'm convinced that the only reason she's not sleeping a little longer is because she's had a stuffy / runny nose. So much so that we went to the doctor on Saturday just to make sure she didn't have anything weird that would catch me by surprise...her snot clogged up their line in the vac they used. A bulb is just not going to get out this goop...no matter how much saline you shove in her nose! Luckily - the saline does break it up enough that she can breath. She does grunt quite a bit with gas or just trying to get comfy in her swaddle...and the grunting will work through the snot!

So - today's picture is what I have to do sometimes to get her to stay awake after she eats. I try to keep her up for about 45 minutes to an hour - otherwise she gets overly stimulated and won't go to sleep at all!

When I just can't get her to stay awake, we'll strip her down to her diaper and lay her the couch - which is COLD!! The look on her face in the first picture below says it all, right!?
